Which heated dog bed is the best?

What are the different types of heated dog bed?

Heated dog beds are similar to a heated blanket or heating pad, but designed with the care and safety of dogs in mind. Heated dog beds are great for older dogs with joint or circulation problems, or young puppies that have been separated from their mom or siblings. They are also a great idea for dogs in cold climates, or for short haired dogs that live in cold, drafty houses. Heated dog beds may help prevent your dog from wanting to climb on the furniture if he has his own warm bed to sleep in instead of a cold floor.

There are several different types of heated dog beds available. There are electronically heated beds similar to our electric blankets, and can be placed on the dog’s usual bed. Some heated beds are an electronic heating element built into an orthopedic dog bed. However, the majority of heated dog beds are just heated mats that the dog can lie on alone or in conjunction with a regular dog bed. Because most heated dog beds feature an electric cord that must be plugged into an outlet, most are only safe for indoor use and should not be used by dogs with incontinence problems or who enjoy chewing cords. There are several types of heated dog beds that are designed for outdoor or camping use.

To further ensure your dog’s safety and comfort, be sure to look for models with adjustable heating ranges and shut-off or timer switches. For ease of use, choose heated dog beds with removable and washable covers.

Prices for heated beds vary depending on the size of the bed and the size of the heating elements. Most are under $100, but outdoor models or models for large breeds may cost much more. Be sure to ask the manufacturer about their return policies and how long they warrantee the heating elements. It is not recommended to use a heating pad or blanket designed for human on dogs. Heated dog beds are specially designed to deal with dog’s nails and claws. Teething puppies or dogs with histories of chewing blankets and beds should not use a heated dog bed without proper supervision.
