What is a foam dog bed?
Foam dog beds are one of the most common types of dog beds available
and come in all sorts of colors and fabrics. Most foam dog beds are
square or rectangular but some can also come in round or oblong
shapes. Most foam dogs beds are made from high-density foam or a
combination of high-grade memory foam. Foam dog beds are almost
always covered with an outer fabric that can be removed and washed
and may also have an additional layer of fabric quilting for more
insulation and comfort.
Foam dog beds are great for dogs that like to stretch out or sleep
in several positions and are available in large and extra-large
sizes. Foam dog beds provide moderate support for most dogs and are
great insulation from cold or hard floors. Fleece topped foam beds
may be warmer for short haired dogs but be sure that any outer
fabric is easily removed and washable. Memory foam beds can provide
additional orthopedic support and many orthopedic dog beds are made
from some combination of high-grade foam.
Most foam dog beds are moderately priced and some are very
inexpensive. Better quality foam, high quality zippers and seams,
and upgraded fabrics all add to the cost of the bed. Be sure to look
for beds with reinforced seams, hidden zippers and thick fabric.
Button closures are not recommended for dog beds as they can be
easily chewed off and swallowed. Most foam dog beds are not
waterproof and are not recommended for use outdoors or for dogs with
incontinence problems.
