Not sure if there is such a thing as chew proof dog beds?

Are there chew proof dog beds?

Most dogs like to chew and unfortunately, many dog beds have been destroyed by rambunctious dogs and puppies. What could be more fun for a dog than chewing through some fabric to pull out all of the stuffing all over the kitchen floor! There is a solution; sturdy dog beds made from plastic and nylon are available. For example, Kuranda makes an excellent dog bed that is used in kennels and veterinary clinics because of its durability and easy of use.

Chewproof dog beds are usually made from strong plastic, PVC or coated metal. Most beds are designed as sling beds with a nylon hammock securely strung within the frame. Unlike pillow beds that have soft seams and enticing zippers, chewproof beds are designed to have few to no chewable parts. Even if the dog does decide to gnaw on the legs, they are designed to withstand a few teeth marks. In addition, the plastic and nylon is water-proof and withstand odors, so there are no smells to attract the dog to start chewing.

When buying a chew proof dog bed for a puppy, be sure to consider what the puppy’s full grown size will be, and purchase accordingly. Puppies can grow alarmingly fast and you want the bed to last into adulthood. If you are buying a chew proof dog bed for an adult, also consider the dog’s reason for chewing. A bored or stressed dog will find a way to destroy any bed; no dog bed is truly 100% chew proof. Buying your dog a chew proof dog bed will provide him with a comfortable place to sleep but will never replace proper exercise and playtime.
